Cyber Pro Xternships Overview

To help you get the cyber job experience employers need, Cybertec has partnered with SCIPP International to offer Cyber Pro Externships at three levels: Junior, Mid-Level and Senior. Below you will learn the Xternships offered, the target cyber jobs for each level, the projects you will complete and the process for gaining acceptance as a Cyber Pro Xtern at Cybertec. Cybertec will interview all candidates who successfully complete their Cyber Pro Xternships.

Cyber Pro Xternships to Fast-Track Your Cyber Career

Fast-track your cyber career with your 100% virtual Cyber Pro Xternship (CPX) at Cybertec. In your CPX you will acquire over 6 months of cyber project experience as a Cyber Pro Xtern in the Cyber Job Xcelerator powered by SCIPP International. You will fast-track your cyber career with seven, virtual in demand cyber pro Xternships. As a Cyber Pro Xtern, you will gain the project experience employers want to fill up to 21 target cyber positions described below.

And your Xtern experience will include use of AI tools to put you at the forefront of cyber risk management productivity.

Target Cyber Jobs for Xterns

Cyber Pro Externs can target cyber positions at three levels:

Junior level
Mid-level
Senior level

The performance of each Cyber Pro Xtern and the recommendations of their Xtern mentors determine which of the three levels they will pursue. Examples of positions and compensation for each level follow:

Your Xternship Schedule

Each Xternship require a four month commitment. For each Xternship you will complete five cyber pro Xternship projects.

Xternship Location:

You will access your Cyber Xternship workplace through the virtual Cyber Job Xcelerator hosted by Cybertec. In your Xcelerator you will receive your cyber project assignments and you will access the Virtual Cyber Labs to complete your projects. You Cyber Pro Xternship mentor, a full certified senior cyber practitioner will support you, address your questions and assess your work through the virtual Cyber Job Xcelerator

Entry-Level:

Security Analyst – $60,000 to $85,000 per year
Risk Assessment Associate – $55,000 to $75,000 per year
Cloud Security Support Specialist – $65,000 to $90,000 per year

Mid-Level:

Cybersecurity Engineer – $90,000 to $130,000 per year
IT Auditor – $85,000 to $120,000 per year
Compliance Analyst – $80,000 to $110,000 per year

Senior-Level:

Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) – $150,000 to $250,000 per year
Security Architect – $130,000 to $180,000 per year
Governance, Risk, and Compliance Manager – $120,000 to $160,000 per year

The Cyber Job Xcelerator

The Cyber Job Xcelerator offers you the experience of gaining valuable cyber risk management project experience under the supervision of senior professional cyber practitioners. The Cyber Job Xcelerator incorporates the

NIST AI Risk Management Framework

to enable you to obtain the foundational experience for in demand cyber risk frameworks including the

CMMC,
FISMA,
FedRAMP,
HIPAA,

Your Cyber Pro Xternship is your first certified Cyber Pro position. Your Cyber Pro mentors have hired 100’s of cyber candidates. They determine when you are cyber job ready as a certified Cyber Pro. Upon successful completion of each of your Xternships your Cyber Pro mentor will provide you with a valuable Cyber Pro recommendation for your Linkedin Profile and references for jobs.

Admissions Requirement for Your Cyber Pro Xternships—

o become a Cyber Pro Xtern you must successfully complete at least three of seven cybersecurity certification preparation courses in the SCIPP Cyber Career Accelerator. Successful completion means you must receive a Cyber Career Recommendation from your Cyber Career Accelerator practitioner faculty, and you must pass the cyber certification exam prerequisite for three Cyber Pro Xternship. The following list identifies the required certification for each of the seven Cyber Pro Xternships.

How to Apply to become a Cyber Pro Xtern

To become a Cyber Pro Xtern and fast-track your cyber career in 2025, follow these six steps:
Receive a SCIPP recommendation for approval for at least three Cyber Certification Scholarship from the Virginia Community College System
Successfully complete three Cybersecurity Certification Courses at the VCCS
Pass the three cyber certification exams for each of your three cyber certification courses.
